Gary Arsham, MD, PhD, FACP
Dr. Arsham has been associated with the competition since 1980 as judge, member of the advisory board, and now as dean of judges. He is an expert in instructional design and has written more than 60 publications on medical education. Dr. Arsham is a coauthor of Diabetes: A Guide to Living Well and 101 Tips for Coping with Diabetes, both published by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). He is active with the ADA and the American Association of Diabetes Educators. He chairs the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) institutional review board which reviews all human research at both CPMC and their research institute.

Martin E. Gordon, MD, FACP, FAAAS
Martin E. Gordon, MD is clinical professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine and prior chairman of the Board of Trustees Yale’s Cushing/Whitney Medical Library Associates. A past double Freddie award winner of this competition, he has also received numerous awards as a producer/director and author of medical films, scientific exhibits and educational devices used internationally. His CD-ROM production of Probing the Diagnosis-Travel Matters earned the 2006 AMWA Award for Excellence in Medical Communication. Dr. Gordon, a Distinguished Alumni Awardee of Yale University School of Medicine, is the Creator/Producer of the Yale BioBus Program to encourage young Honor Students into Bio-Medical careers. He is a recent recipient of Yale’s Honoris Causa as well as the 2004 coveted Dean’s Peter Parker Medal for Lifetime Professional Contributions to Medicine and to Yale.

Phillip L. Polakoff, MD, MPH, MEnvSc
Dr. Polakoff has been actively involved with the film competition since 1979. He recently ran for the California State Assembly. Previously he was a corporate executive with several Fortune 500 companies. He was the founder and president/CEO of THAP!—the total health advocacy company. Dr. Polakoff has written six books and more than 180 scientific and health related articles, as well as a nationally syndicated, weekly column called “Work and Health.” He lectures and testifies frequently on health and employment issues. Dr. Polakoff is board certified in occupational and environmental medicine.
