2008 marked a milestone with the establishment of the MediMedia Foundation as a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) charitable organization. The FREDDIE Awards will be produced and managed under the non-profit foundation. There will be many benefits, the first being that all contributions to the FREDDIE Awards are tax deductible. This classification also opens doors for the pursuit of philanthropic initiative for the benefit of the whole FREDDIE community.

As healthcare becomes an increasingly challenging social issue, it will be vital to support the people and organizations working to develop valuable programs which provide access to health and medical information. The MediMedia Foundation aspires to be a leader in the promotion of healthcare literacy and our designation as not-for-profit is the first step on this journey.
